Rep. Paul Gosar, DDS, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 9th district since 2011, recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing the ongoing government shutdown and related national security concerns.

On March 12, 2026, Gosar called for procedural change in the Senate by posting: “Nuke the filibuster!”.

Later that day, he highlighted multiple crises and criticized Democratic lawmakers for not approving funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). On March 12, 2026, he wrote: “Millions of Americans under tornado threat, ISIS-inspired terrorists toss IEDs in NY, Islamic radical shoots dozens in TX, travelers stuck in long TSA lines…yet Dems still refuse to fund DHS. This isn’t politics, it’s national security. Fund DHS now.”

The following day, Gosar continued his criticism regarding congressional pay during the shutdown. On March 13, 2026, he stated: “Meanwhile, the Democrats responsible for the shutdown are still collecting their taxpayer-funded salaries right on schedule.”

Paul Gosar has served as Arizona’s representative since replacing Ann Kirkpatrick in Congress in 2011. He was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1958 and currently resides in Bullhead City. In recent elections, Gosar defeated Quacy Smith in 2024 with over 65% of the vote and Richard Grayson in 2022 with nearly 98%. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University.
