Rep. Paul Gosar, DDS, a U.S. Congressman who has secured recent re-election victories in both 2022 and 2024, posted several messages on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on September 23, 2025. The posts included criticism of Senator Chuck Schumer regarding the potential for a federal government shutdown.

In a post made at 17:28 UTC on September 23, Rep. Gosar wrote: “If the fed govt shuts down it will be for 1 reason: Senator Chuck Schumer. Bowing 2 leftist pressure & terrified he will lose his Senate seat in a primary, Schumer is leading the effort 2 shut the govt down. Schumer is putting his political ambitions ahead of what’s best for https://t.co/Jjby8BwQI0”.

Earlier that day, Rep. Gosar also shared two other posts containing links or images at 00:02 UTC and 00:10 UTC.

Paul Gosar’s statements come amid ongoing debates in Congress about federal spending and budget priorities, which have led to repeated threats of government shutdowns in recent years. In previous elections, Gosar has maintained strong support within his district—defeating Quacy Smith in the 2024 general election with over 65% of the vote and Richard Grayson in the 2022 general election with nearly 98% of the vote.
