Shawnna LM Bolick, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 2nd Senate District, posted a series of tweets between August 23 and August 26, 2025, commenting on issues ranging from urban policy to legislative action.

Two days later, on August 25, she criticized San Francisco’s approach to homelessness in connection with a diplomatic visit: “Crazy you cleaned up San Francisco’s homeless encampments to welcome China’s President Xi Jinping back in 2023. On August 26, Bolick addressed her actions regarding state legislation: “In the dark of the night, I rejected a last-minute floor amendment that would have gutted an election integrity ballot referral we have worked so hard throughout this legislative session. Bolick began serving as state senator for Arizona’s 2nd Senate District after being elected in 2023, succeeding Steve Kaiser.
