CITY OF BUCKEYE: Public Works employees earn prestigious certification

Award

City of Buckeye recently issued the following announcement on Jan. 7

Congratulations to Buckeye’s Environmental Compliance Officer, Amy Murray, for earning the Certified Public Works Professional – Management certification through the American Public Works Association.

This certification recognizes public works professionals who have the knowledge and experience to manage the many organizations within a public works department.

Buckeye’s Public Works Department consists of six different organizations – Streets, Building Maintenance, Trash and Recycling, Fleet Management, the Buckeye Municipal Airport and Administration.

Murray joins fellow Buckeye Public Works employee, Nanci Dixon, as one of only four women in Arizona to become a Certified Public Works Professional - Manager.

This is a huge accomplishment when you consider that only 61 men and women nationwide have earned their CPWP-M from the nearly 37,000 municipalities that are members of the APWA.

The exam covers all aspects of Public Works including budget and finance, human resources, procurement and contract administration, emergency management, project management and several other domains.

Murray’s CPWP-M will further assist in the Public Works Department mission of providing quality services in an efficient and responsive manner while being good stewards of city resources.
