Desert Hills Baptist Church issued the following announcement on May 13
Dear Church Family,
All throughout the Bible God gives His people calls to worship. One such call is found in Psalm 95 where God says, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Worship does not exclusively happen in a building as we have come to realize over these last 8 weeks. Worship can happen in our homes, cars, walking amongst His creation, or in a solitary place. Worship is showing adoration, respect, and reverence to God. I doubt the author of Psalm 95 was being inspired by God to give us His song in a building.
As Christians we relish opportunities to gather with other fellow believers, participate in singing praises to Him, hearing a message and connecting in a live format, and bringing our offerings to God. We have missed worshipping corporately with you, but we have a plan to slowly bring corporate worship to our entire church family in the next few weeks. This plan is not a perfect plan, but it is a plan to allow people who are very desirous to get back to physical services in a safe gradual setting.
I want you to be reminded of several things as we prepare to gather publicly as a church family:
• If you are immune compromised; have been sick; have a temperature or cough; or have been around someone who has been sick please enjoy our services online rather than in person.
• We will not be shaking hands, hugging, or greeting in this manner.
• You are welcome to wear masks while you are in the services but we will not require them.
• We are asking people to keep space between others for a level of comfortability.
• We are sanitizing all touchpoints in the building and are scheduling ushers and greeters to open all doors to limit touching communal surfaces.
• If you have children with you in the service, please seat yourself in the back and if they get restless please take them in the lobby or fellowship hall where the service will be live.
• If you are uncomfortable meeting with us publicly for a while, please consistently tune in online until you are comfortable.
Schedule to Transition Services and Classes:
Sunday May the 17th, 8:45am service in the auditorium & online (No children’s classes or nursery); 10:30am online service only(FB live or deserthills.church )
Sunday May 24th -31st , 8:45am & 10:30am service in the auditorium & online (no children’s classes or nursery)
Sunday June 7th-Restart Sunday -8:45am & 10:30 am service in the auditorium, children’s classes, nursery, and online services.
Thank you for your faithfulness in tuning in online, by attending our drive up services, by participating in online Life Groups, and by faithfully giving so the ministry of Desert Hills can continue. We have enhanced the inside our building with you in mind and have been busy awaiting your return. Please let us know if you have any questions, or if we can serve you and your family in any way.
