Maricopa County Community Colleges have introduced new plans to slowly bring students and educators back to its campuses.
College officials say the plan will get things rolling within the next several months, according to AZ Central. On May 15, they revealed their three-phase strategy.
AZ Central reported that college administrators sent a message to community college district employees. In the message, officials say that on June 15, they will host a series of career and technical education classes. However, according to the message, students and staff will still be working remotely.
In the message, Steven Gonzales, who is the interim chancellor, says the new normal is significantly different from what was considered normal at the close of 2019.
"Although our new normal is sure to be different, there are signs that our on-campus operations may begin to reopen in the not-too-distant future," Gonzales wrote.
The plan includes three phases. The first would allow certain classes to return to campus. Gonzales wrote that the second phase would allow faculty members to slowly start returning to campus. The third would allow some in-person services for students. According to Gonzales, things should be up and running by August.
Gonzales also wrote that dates in the plan are subject to "shift as needed."
