Goodyear Ensuring City’s Water Future with New Facility

Operator

City of Goodyear issued the following announcement on Jan. 6.

Goodyear’s new Surface Water Treatment Facility is now flowing!

Goodyear is the nation’s ninth fastest-growing city, and it shows no signs of slowing down. That’s why it’s so important to have a solid plan to be able to provide residents with this precious resource for the long term. The city’s decades of careful planning and investments in infrastructure will continue to secure Goodyear’s water future.

“The new Surface Water Treatment Facility is really helping Goodyear grow,” said Goodyear Deputy Public Works Director Barbara Chappell. “It’s providing that additional water supply that will increase our capacity by 8 million gallons a day.”

This state-of-the-art facility has the ability to reach 16 million gallons of water a day with future expansion. As the ninth fastest growing city in the country, this investment ensures that Goodyear can meet existing water needs, while also making sure there is plenty of water for further growth.

Goodyear is the first southwest Valley city to have this type of facility. The treated surface water is mixed with the groundwater the city has already been utilizing and delivered to residents and businesses across the city. “It’s a great addition to our water system and we are so excited to have it up and running,” said Chappell.
