City of Buckeye issued the following announcement on Jan. 19.

U.S. House Representative Greg Stanton announced today the Water Resources Development Act of 2020 passed unanimously. This new measure includes $150 million in projects that benefit many communities in the state, including Buckeye.

Buckeye’s federal allocation is $2.25 million for the design and construction for improvements at the Beloat Wastewater Treatment plant to mitigate the risk of flooding.

“Representative Stanton’s hard work and dedication to providing financial assistance to improve Arizona’s infrastructure ensures the entire state continues to be sustainable,” said Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn. “Improvements at the Beloat Wastewater Treatment Plant will free up monies from our budget to invest in other important water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the city.”

In total, Arizona will receive $18.45 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Stanton worked with stakeholders from tribal communities, small cities and rural communities to determine their water and wastewater infrastructure needs.

Funding for these projects will be distributed to communities through the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. A complete list of all projects is available online.
