Esmie Avila, Avondale’s Water Conservation Coordinator, retires after more than 32 years of dedicated service

Retire

City of Avondale issued the following announcement on Mar. 10.

Esmie Avila, Avondale’s Water Conservation Coordinator, retires after more than 32 years of dedicated service to the Avondale community.

In her time with Avondale, Esmie served in a variety of capacities focused on water service, quality and conservation. She’s worked with local schools, Water Use it Wisely, Arizona Project Wet, and other agencies to promote water conservation as a way of life.

You’ve likely seen Esmie’s influence in Avondale, whether it be in the annual water quality calendar (she’s the inspiration for the Master Gardner Avonger character), water conservation billboards around town, or through the countless landscaping classes she’s taught. Perhaps you’ve seen her driving the water conservation car around Avondale, working in the Municipal Operations Service Center, or engaging the public at our special events.

She has embodied Avondale’s core values by being Helpful Kind and Professional. Thank you for 32.5 years of Making Lives Better for the residents of the City of Avondale, Esmie. Happy Retirement! We will miss you!
