When it comes to restaurants in Goodyear, residents certainly have their favorites. And most are pretty clear about whether they like locally owned or well-known chain restaurants.
In the newest episode of the Growing Goodyear podcast, the city takes a deeper look into the stories behind of these restaurants. The owners of Tacos Barbon and the Goodyear Culver’s share their unique stories of how they got into the restaurant industry and what makes the city such a special place to serve customers.
“Every day we open we are interviewing for somebody to come back and give us their business,” said Tacos Barbon owner Isai Martinez. “I tell this to our staff all the time, every night, every ticket we are interviewing for this person to come back.”
But that hometown hospitality isn’t reserved for just the locally owned small business restaurants. Greg Landon, the owner operator of the Goodyear Culver’s, knows that the way you treat your customers, and employees, can go a long way.
“You got to think like a customer. And you’ve got to have empathy for every employee that works for you. I always say energy and smiles sell,” said Landon. “So you’ve got to have happy people and you’ve got to grow them in a development plan to make them feel part of your family.”
