The city of Goodyear continues to make big strides in workplace wellness after recently being ranked sixth on the Phoenix Business Journal’s list of Arizona’s Healthiest Employers Midsize Companies, which is defined as a company with 500 – 1,499 employees. Previously, the city was ranked 13th in 2021 and 17th in 2018.
The city of Goodyear encourages its 800 full-time employees to be as healthy as they can be through its program called The Whole Employee. Employees can attend workshops on their lunch breaks that touch on everything from financial awareness to how to practice proper sleep hygiene and participate in walking and hydration challenges.
“The Whole Employee is centered on the idea that if people are healthy in all aspects of their lives, they will be better employees and help us continue to provide exceptional customer service to our community,’ said Human Resources Director Lyman Locket. “There are five elements of wellbeing that we focus on, including physical, social, financial, career and community wellbeing.”
The Phoenix Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers® is an awards program that recognizes people-first organizations taking a more proactive approach to employee health. The goal is to be a resource for organizations focused on improving their employees’ health, creating a community invested in their populations' health and wellbeing. Companies are assessed on a broad spectrum of wellness and worksite health initiatives, spanning cultural and leadership support to technological prowess to programmatic effectiveness.
