New On-Demand Transportation Service Launches in Goodyear WeRIDE, an app-based ride-booking service, adds another way to travel around the city

Residents in Goodyear can now use the city’s new on-demand transportation service, WeRIDE! WeRIDE is a microtransit service that operates much like popular, private, on-demand services. Trips can be booked through the WeRIDE app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play, as well as by phone or online. The service pairs multiple passengers heading in the same direction in a single vehicle.

The cities of Goodyear and Avondale partnered together to launch the service within both cities. Each city has a specific zone where the service is available. Today, the two cities and Valley Metro celebrated the official launch at the Goodyear Park-and-Ride, which is one of the locations passengers can be picked up or dropped off by WeRIDE.

“Today is an exciting day,” said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “We have taken the next step in transit to bring a more accessible and more equitable transportation solution to our great cities. I am proud of the collaborative work that both our cities have accomplished to bring this great pilot project to our residents.”

“This is one part of the larger mobility ecosystem across the Valley that gets people where they need to go,” said Valley Metro CEO Jessica Mefford-Miller. “Whether they’re traveling five miles or 35 miles across the Valley, microtransit really is a blend of technology and good, old-fashioned mobility.”
