Buckeye police gear up for cadet program

The Buckeye Police Department is preparing for the 2022-2023 cadet program for young adults interested in law enforcement careers. The program coincides with a typical academic school year, and allows those ages 14 to 20 to explore different aspects of policing in a comprehensive, in-depth study program.

The Buckeye Police Cadet Program coincides with a typical school year with participants meeting three times a month. Cadets will receive classroom lessons and conduct hands-on exercises that provide a unique and realistic look at the job of a law enforcement officer. They also participate in various Buckeye community events by volunteering and conducing traffic control.

The cadet program provides more than just an overview of police policies and procedures. It helps participants develop leadership skills and a deep appreciation of service to the community. Those who complete the program can cite the knowledge they gained in college applications and processes for entering the military.

The Buckeye Police Department is hosting a parent/student meeting to provide more details on September 12, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the department’s training building located at 8050 S. Shepards Trail. Youth interested in the program are encouraged to fill out this online form. If you have questions, please email Officer Nabil Mosher at nmosher@buckeyeaz.gov.
