Later that day, Grijalva criticized Trump's Joint Address to Congress by stating that "In true form, President Trump spent the entirety of his Joint Address lying to Americans that his last six weeks burning the U.S. government to the ground will some how benefit them." On March 6, 2025, Grijalva addressed income inequality and Social Security payments with a tweet: "Millionaire earners stop paying into Social Security today. They should pay in ALL year long on ALL of their income, just like the rest of us." He advocated for scrapping the cap on Social Security contributions as a means to protect and expand benefits.
