It is an honor that Cochise SAR personnel have been selected as rescue specialists (RS) for the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue. One team member has competed the intensive 12 day training course at Priority 1 Air Rescue in Mesa and Southern Air Rescue in Tucson. 2 more personnel will be attending the training course in the near future. Once the training is completed, the personnel will be assisting Air Rescue with hoist rescues throughout Southern Arizona. AZDPS Air Rescue currently operates 2 Bell 429 hoist equipped helicopters, 1 in Phoenix and 1 in Tucson a third 429 will be delivered later this year.
