Effective April 3, Avondale Public Works department will be making changes to its bulk trash zones and holiday collection schedule.

Avondale households receive monthly bulk trash pick-up service, depending on their numbered Zones (Zones 1,2,3 and 4). With growth occurring throughout the city, particularly in the southern portion, Public Works has reconfigured these Zones to allow for more efficient collection.

Starting in April, each community will be assigned a NEW zone in one of four zones – A,B,C,D --  for bulk trash pick up.  Residents will continue to receive monthly bulk trash pick up; however households will be asked to follow the new bulk trash schedule according to where they live in Avondale.

“The new zones will help Avondale Public Works provide better service to our residential customers while reducing the amount of time it takes to collect bulk trash and dispose of materials,” said Public Works Director Kirk Beaty. The new zones are designed to improve efficiency while also reducing costs associated with collection. To find out what NEW zone you are in, visit www.avondaleaz.gov/Bulk

Along with the bulk trash zone changes, the City of Avondale has updated its holiday trash and recycling collection schedule. Avondale Public Works will pick up trash and recycling according to normal schedule, regardless of what day the holiday falls on. For instance, if 4th of July falls on a Monday, and your regular solid waste service also takes place on a Monday, service will take place per usual. Residents will have to place their black bin at the curb by 5 a.m. that day for normal pickup.

The EXCEPTIONS are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, when there will be no service on those holidays. Instead, trash and recycling service will take place one day later that week.  Residents are encouraged to check the City of Avondale website for information regarding the holiday schedule. Reminders will be provided in advance of each of the holidays, on the City’s social media platforms and on NextDoor, reminding that trash/recycle will be collected one day later for that holiday week.
