Morenci AZ issued the following announcement on July 27.
A frequent stop for area residents, the Conoco Convenience Store is undergoing a transition to the Marathon Oil brand name. Marathon Oil, who owns Western Refining, is a major supplier of petroleum products to Morenci.
The transition is planned to be as smooth as possible but will require the facility to close for several hours to install new equipment and to change over to new systems. The Conoco will close on Thursday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. and reopen at 4 a.m. on Friday, July 30. The closure includes all store operations including the gas pumps.
