Raúl M. Grijalva, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona's 7th District, has recently expressed his views on several pressing issues through social media posts. Known for his advocacy in justice and reform, Grijalva has served in Congress since 2003 and previously held a position on the Pima County Board of Supervisors.
On February 4, 2025, Grijalva stated that "The U.S. should never outsource its prison system—especially to a government with a history of human rights abuses and where due process is not guaranteed." He emphasized that mass incarceration should not be viewed as a business opportunity but rather focus on justice, rehabilitation, and reform.
In another post dated February 5, 2025, Grijalva commented on international affairs by asserting that "There is absolutely no legal authority for the U.S. to take over the land of Gaza and occupy it for any length of time." He criticized this approach as contrary to non-interventionist policies previously promoted by former President Trump.
Later on February 5, Grijalva addressed domestic constitutional matters regarding citizenship rights. He declared that "President Trump cannot unilaterally end birthright citizenship—it’s protected by the 14th Amendment." Grijalva affirmed that all children born in the United States are citizens under the Constitution and highlighted judicial consensus supporting this interpretation.
